Returning for our 'Meet the Winemaker' series, we are thrilled to welcome back Andrew 'Ox' Hardy - Owner & Winemaker for Ox Hardy Wines.

Ox Hardy is the precious combination of family, heritage, and provenance, inspired by a father son project which ushers in the next chapter of a multi-generational legacy. Since Thomas Hardy purchased the land in late 1870s, it has passed from one generation of Hardy to the next, a constant traversing through time. Today, Andrew ‘Ox’ Hardy and his family look after the 140-hectare farm in Blewitt Springs, in the upper slopes of McLaren Vale.

Nestled amongst thirty hectares of native bush are 45 hectares of vine, Ox’s winemaking experience spans four decades. Having worked with some of the greats in Australia and abroad, today he focuses his energy crafting benchmark wines which showcase the terroir of the iconic Upper Tintara Vineyard.

With one foot in the past, he honours his heritage with three expressions of estate grown Blewitt Springs Shiraz; and the other foot firmly in the future, he celebrates the versatility of the Vale, embracing emerging varieties that suit the terroir and changing climate, ensuring the legacy continues for his children’s children to enjoy.

(SOLD OUT) PRIORAT - MASTERCLASS SERIES - Wednesday 20th + Thursday 20th March

Wednesday 20th + Thursday 24th March - 5PM & 6:45PM

Lion Wine Room

$50 per person

The Spanish Wine Encyclopedia, Scott Wasley, is back in town, and we’re tasting through the incredible wines of Priorat, one of the most beautiful wine valleys in the world.

With its dry, rugged terrain, Priorat offers a tough, unique beauty. It feels far removed from the regular world — when you’re there, the only reminders of the outside world are the occasional jet vapour trails, which almost seem unreal. Priorat is home to its own family of Garnacha’s, some of which are quite famous and expensive. Yet, the region nearly disappeared in the second half of the 20th century.

Things get even more intriguing. When Priorat was reborn after 1990, it quickly gained fame and skyrocketed in price. However, the wines produced during this time were often big, hot, oaky, and not necessarily of the highest quality. Fast forward nearly two decades, and a remarkable transformation has occurred.

Today, Priorat is known for producing delicate, delicious, and affordable wines, many of which are as terroir specific as those from the likes of Barolo, Barbaresco, or Burgundy.

It’s our pleasure to be able to show the following wines to you.

2023 Capcanes 'Mas Donis' Rosat de Garnatxa
2021 Alvaro Palacios 'Camins del Priorat' Garnatxa Carinyena
2023 Scala Dei Priorat Vi de Villa Garnaxta Blend'
2023 Les Cousins L'Inconscient Blend
2022 Aixala i Alcait' Destrankis' Garnatxa
2022 Aixala i Alcait 'Les Clivelles' Carinyena
2023 Blai Ferre i Just 'Billo' Garnatxa de Parcela
2022 Xavi Palleja 'Buxus de les Aubagues' Carinyena Garnatxa

Whether you call it Garnatxa, Garnacha, or Grenache, this is the finest you'll get in Priorat. This masterclass is not to be missed by any Spanish wine lover.
